Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Plant Ecology Beyond Land (PEBL) CIC ("PEBL", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal data. We are the data controller.

Who we are​

PEBL CIC (company number 12076622), 29 Glan Yr Afon Road, Sketty, Swansea, SA2 9JA. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). For anything about your data, contact us at hello@pebl-cic.co.uk.

What we collect, and why​

When you contact us. If you email us or use a contact form, we collect your name, email address and whatever you put in your message, so that we can reply and help you.

When you buy or hire kit. We collect what we need to fulfil your order: your name, contact details, delivery address and order records.

When you use a PEBL account or online service. If you create an account to use a PEBL online service, we collect your login email and the data files you upload to it.

When you use the device app. The PEBL App runs on the device over a local WiFi network with no internet. Your captured footage and sensor data stay on the device and its SD card. We do not collect them.

Cookies and analytics​

We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how our website is used. These do not set tracking cookies and do not identify you personally, so the site does not need a cookie-consent banner.

Lawful bases​

We rely on contract (to fulfil orders, hires and accounts), legitimate interests (to answer enquiries, keep our services secure, and improve our site), and consent (for marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time).

Who we share it with​

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers we need to run PEBL, under contract and only as far as needed. These include our website host (Netlify), our database and backend provider (Supabase), our email provider, and, if you pay by card, our payment processor (we do not store full card details).

International transfers​

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK or the European Economic Area. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as a UK adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses, to keep your data protected.

How long we keep it​

  • Enquiries: up to 24 months.
  • Account data: while your account is active, and up to 12 months afterwards.
  • Order and tax records: 6 years, as required by law.

Marketing​

We send marketing emails only if you have opted in, and every one has an unsubscribe link.

Your rights​

You have the right to access, correct or erase your data, to object to or restrict its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email hello@pebl-cic.co.uk. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy​

We may update this policy from time to time. The version shown here is the current one, with the effective date above.
