Terms of Sale
These Terms of Sale govern the purchase of PEBL kit from Plant Ecology Beyond Land (PEBL) CIC ("PEBL", "we", "us"). If you are hiring kit rather than buying it, the Hire Terms and Conditions apply instead. Once you own the kit, the Warranty also applies.
Effective date: 24 June 2026
If you are buying for yourself rather than for a business, you have extra legal rights, including a statutory right to cancel a distance purchase and to reject faulty goods. Nothing in these Terms affects those rights. Section 10 has the detail.
1. Orders
1.1 Placing an order, online or by email, is an offer to buy the kit subject to these Terms. A contract forms when we confirm your order or dispatch the kit, whichever happens first.
1.2 We may decline or cancel an order before dispatch, for example if the kit is unavailable or the price was listed in error. If you have already paid, we refund you in full.
2. Prices and VAT
2.1 Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and shown excluding VAT. UK VAT at the standard rate (currently 20%) is added where it applies.
2.2 Prices may change, but the price that applies to your order is the one confirmed when you order.
2.3 For deliveries outside the UK, you are responsible for any import duties, taxes or customs charges.
3. Payment
3.1 Unless we agree otherwise in writing, payment is due in full before we dispatch the kit.
3.2 For established institutional customers buying on a purchase order, we may offer payment within 30 days of the invoice date.
3.3 We may charge interest on late payment at the statutory rate for business debts.
4. Delivery
4.1 We will agree a delivery method and address with you and give an estimated dispatch time. Delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees.
4.2 Risk in the kit passes to you on delivery.
5. Title
5.1 You own the kit only once we have received payment in full. Until then, the kit remains our property.
6. Cancelling before dispatch
6.1 You may cancel an order at no charge any time before we dispatch it. Tell us by email and we refund anything you have paid.
7. Returns and refunds
7.1 You may return undamaged, unused kit in its original packaging within 14 days of delivery for a refund. This applies whether you bought as a consumer or as a business.
7.2 Tell us first by email at hello@pebl-cic.co.uk and we will give you a return address.
7.3 You pay the return postage for a change-of-mind return. We recommend a tracked, insured service, as the kit is your responsibility until we receive it.
7.4 We refund within 14 days of receiving the returned kit, provided it is unused and resalable. We do not charge a restocking fee.
7.5 Kit that was made or configured specially to your order cannot be returned for a change of mind, unless it is faulty.
Returning faulty kit is different and is covered in section 8. The change-of-mind return in this section is for kit you simply no longer want.
8. Faulty or damaged kit
8.1 Check your kit on arrival. If it arrives faulty or damaged, or develops a fault, tell us within 30 days of delivery and we will repair it, replace it, or refund it.
8.2 For faulty or damaged kit, we pay the return postage.
8.3 After 30 days, faults are handled under the Warranty.
9. Warranty
9.1 PEBL kit is covered by our Warranty, which sets out what is covered, for how long, and how to claim.
10. Your consumer rights
10.1 If you buy as a consumer, you have statutory rights that these Terms do not affect. These include the right to cancel a distance purchase within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and the right to a repair, replacement or refund for faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
10.2 If you buy as a business, those particular consumer rights do not apply, and the returns offer in section 7 is made by us as a matter of goodwill.
11. Limitation of liability
11.1 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
11.2 Subject to clause 11.1, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of profit arising from the sale or use of the kit.
11.3 Subject to clause 11.1, our total liability for an order will not exceed the price you paid for it.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
