Terms of Sale
These Terms of Sale govern the purchase of PEBL kit from Plant Ecology Beyond Land (PEBL) CIC ("PEBL", "we", "us"). If you are hiring kit rather than buying it, the Hire Terms and Conditions apply instead. Once you own the kit, the Warranty also applies.
Effective date: 8 October 2026
If you are buying for yourself rather than for a business or other organisation, you have extra legal rights, including a right to cancel within 14 days of delivery and rights if your kit is faulty. Nothing in these Terms affects those rights. Cancelling as a consumer explains how to cancel, and section 10 has more detail.

1. Orders
1.1 Placing an order, online or by email, is an offer to buy the kit subject to these Terms. A contract forms when we confirm your order or dispatch the kit, whichever happens first.
1.2 We may decline or cancel an order before dispatch, for example if the kit is unavailable or the price was listed in error. If you have already paid, we refund you in full.
1.3 If we cannot meet the dispatch times in clause 4.2 for an order, we may hold it and confirm it once we can. We confirm held orders in the order we received them. We take no payment for an order we have not confirmed, and you can withdraw a held order at any time before we confirm it.
2. Prices and VAT
2.1 Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). Our website shows each price both including and excluding UK VAT at the standard rate (currently 20%), and VAT is charged where it applies.
2.2 Prices may change, but you pay the price shown on the day you placed your order, even if we confirm the order after a price change.
2.3 For deliveries outside the UK, you are responsible for any import duties, taxes or customs charges.
2.4 Delivery to an address in the UK is included in the price, so we add no delivery charge to UK orders. For delivery outside the UK, we quote the cost before we confirm your order.
3. Payment
3.1 We take payment by bank transfer. Our bank details are on our invoice.
3.2 There is nothing to pay before we confirm your order. For an order over £3,000 excluding VAT, once we have confirmed it we invoice 50% of the price before we start building the kit.
3.3 Once we have confirmed your order, payment in full (or, for an order over £3,000 excluding VAT, the balance) is due before we dispatch the kit, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
3.4 For established institutional customers buying on a purchase order, we may offer payment within 30 days of the invoice date.
3.5 We may charge interest on late payment at the statutory rate for business debts.
4. Delivery
4.1 Orders placed through our website are delivered to UK addresses. For delivery anywhere else, ask us for a quote before you order.
4.2 We dispatch SubCam 3 and its accessories, and GrowProbe turbidity calibration fluid, within 3 weeks of confirming your order. We dispatch GrowProbe 4 within 6 weeks of confirming your order.
4.3 We agree the delivery method and address with you, and our confirmation gives the dispatch date.
4.4 If you are buying as a consumer, we will deliver the kit by the date given in our confirmation, or within 30 days of the confirmation if it gives no date.
4.5 If you are buying for a business or other organisation, delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees.
4.6 CE marking for SubCam 3 and GrowProbe 4 is pending.
4.6 Risk in the kit passes to you on delivery.
5. Title
5.1 You own the kit only once we have received payment in full. Until then, the kit remains our property.
6. Cancelling before dispatch
6.1 You may cancel an order at no charge any time before we dispatch it. Tell us by email and we refund anything you have paid.
6.2 If you are buying as a consumer, you can also cancel after dispatch, until 14 days after the kit reaches you. Cancelling as a consumer explains how.
7. Returns offer for organisations
This section is our own offer to organisations. If you are buying as a consumer, your legal right to cancel applies instead, as set out in Cancelling as a consumer. That right does not require the kit to be unused or in its original packaging.
7.1 If you are buying for a business or other organisation, you may return undamaged, unused kit in its original packaging within 14 days of delivery for a refund. This is our own offer to organisations, not a legal requirement.
7.2 Tell us first by email at hello@pebl-cic.co.uk and we will give you a return address.
7.3 You pay the return postage for a change-of-mind return. We recommend a tracked, insured service, as the kit is your responsibility until we receive it.
7.4 We refund within 14 days of receiving the returned kit, provided it is unused and resalable. We do not charge a restocking fee.
7.5 Kit that was made or configured specially to your order cannot be returned for a change of mind, unless it is faulty. That exception never covers standard kit from our price list (every SubCam and GrowProbe version included), even though we build it after you order.
Returning faulty kit is different and is covered in section 8. The change-of-mind return in this section is for kit you simply no longer want.
8. Faulty or damaged kit
8.1 Check your kit on arrival. If it arrives faulty or damaged, or develops a fault, tell us within 30 days of delivery and we will repair it, replace it, or refund it.
8.2 For faulty or damaged kit, we pay the return postage.
8.3 After 30 days, faults are handled under the Warranty.
9. Warranty
9.1 PEBL kit is covered by our Warranty, which sets out what is covered, for how long, and how to claim.
10. Your consumer rights
10.1 If you buy as a consumer, you have statutory rights that these Terms do not affect. These include the right to cancel a distance purchase within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, explained in Cancelling as a consumer, and the right to a repair, replacement or refund for faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
10.2 If you buy as a business or other organisation, those particular consumer rights do not apply, and the returns offer in section 7 is made by us as a matter of goodwill.
11. Limitation of liability
11.1 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
11.2 Subject to clause 11.1, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of profit arising from the sale or use of the kit.
11.3 Subject to clause 11.1, our total liability for an order will not exceed the price you paid for it.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
